About the Mission:

The family of Douglas R. Purner, Sr. has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services.  Douglas, 65, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Born November 2, 1959 in Glens Falls, New York, Douglas was a 1977 graduate of Glens Falls High School.  He enlisted in the US Air Force on 1 September 1977 and was trained as an Aircrew Life Support Specialist (AFSC 12250) at Chanute AFB, IL.  He served on active duty until 1 June 1982, assigned to the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Ellsworth Air Base, SD and Tinker AFB, OK.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman First Class (E-3), and for his service, was awarded an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Ribbon (Long) and Air Force Basic Military Training Ribbon.

After his military service, Douglas went on to graduate from SUNY Adirondack Community College in the class of 1991 for technical drafting.

Special Information:

We will stage with a flag line upon arrival from a previous funeral at SNC. We will stand until the funeral mass at about 2pm. After services, we will stand a flag line again for a dignified transfer and then escort to St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
