About the Mission:
The family of LeRoy O. "Lee" Flammer has requested Patriot Guard Riders' participation in his military honors funeral services. Lee, 82, passed away at his home surrounded by his family.
Born August 26, 1942, in Summit, NJ, Lee enlisted in the US Navy on 26 October 1960. He was trained as a Radarman and served three years and nine months on active duty, including 2 years and nine months of sea duty aboard the USS Norfolk (DL-1), the first destroyer leader of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged with a rating of Radarman 3rd Class (RD3), and a rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class ((E-4).
After his military service, Lee joined the Suffolk County Police Department where he worked for 30 years, ending his career as a Deputy Inspector in charge of the Special Patrol Bureau. During those 30 years, he helped start the police Dive Team and managed the Suffolk Police Bagpipe Band. He moved to Adirondack in 2000 and became active in the Chestertown Rotary, the Northern Warren Snowmobile Club and American Legion Post #964. As a long time motorcycle rider, Lee helped in the establishment of the American Legion Riders in Chestertown, serving as both President and Vice President over the years and joining in leading many patriotic parades.
